ARTICLE 3
The article, “Adolescent Partner-Type Experience,” is about the pyschosocial and behavioral differences. It talks about girls and boys decisions on their sexual experiences as well as relationship status, teenagers decide they may have together. Differences in adolescents’ behavior with main and casual partners may be partly related to the type of sexual partner they are making decisions with, but may also be related to differences between adolescents who choose different types of partners. Research examining patterns of sexual experiences (i.e., relative, or longterm, monogamy; serial monogamy, and nonmonogamy), but not types of partners, has identified significant demographic, pyschosocial and behavioral differences among groups (Rosengard, 1). The articles also explain the fact that if a person exposes themselves to many partners and people at a given time, they may be exposed to different types of diseases. This is harmful to both partners and people in the long term effect. This may also lead to pregnancies. Teenagers are more susceptible to this because they experiment and learn new things via what they are taught in school. Teenagers go out and have serious partners and casual partners. When you are serious with someone, then that would be a significant time to have an intimate relationship. If you are casual, you are supposed to have fun and enjoy your freedom. In doing surveys, most people are aware of the STD’s involved in a sexual relationship. This is mind boggling, people understand they have a huge risk of an STD, yet they continue to persue their sexual relationships with more than one person. Many people believe that being intimate in a relationship, keeps it alive and fun loving for the both of the partners. The calculations for having a casual partner, even if you were in a relationship to begin with, are greatly suprising. Within the next 6 months, a lot of people dating would be having a secret partner on the side.
Critique
The article was a very informative choice for me to pick my topic. It was long and full packed with information of teenage love and their sexual relationships. I believe this article was sufficiently written because it was lengthy and completely informative on a wide expansion of topics that generally do not deal with love. The organization was very straight foward and to the point. They had polls and surveys that effectively organized the article to keep the flow of it all together. The report took the side of opposing having many sexual partners at once. This is because, having too many sexual partners increases your risk at having a STD, or even quite possibly, pregnancy. There was a plethora of information left in the article for me to take and learn from. I feel that the article was a little redundant about the STD’s and pregnancy scarings. Also, children and teenagers experience new things through other children, which in turn, becomes susceptible to peer pressure in many forms.
PART 3 Literature Section
For this project, I have chosen the theme of love and relationships. Love and relationships was a thriving topic for me to choose. The book Brave New World was compared and contrasted through the different reservations on how to love and keep steady relationships. Also, you learn what is morally correct in each society and what is not allowed or moral. In the Savage Reservation, the believe in healthy, normal, everyday relationships. In the World State, they deal with having sexual relationships with multiple partners. It would be considered a moral wrong to have a steady relationship. “Do you mean to tell me, you’re still going out with Henry Foster?” (Huxley, 40). Lenina, a women on the World State, has started to go steady with this man Henry Foster. This is not allowed on the World State, multiple partners are encouraged to full amounts. However, Lenina starts to feel some sort of attraction. This may be an instance of love. While in the Savage Reservation, we meet John. His mother Linda was once “going with” the World State’s director. This is extremely ironic because the Director runs part of the World State, where childbearing, is strongly enforced to be forbidden. This shows the difference between the two modern areas. It also shows the difference on how each area handles love and relationships, which is one of the main themes in the book. Many people have different thoughts and beliefs of love. Some people do not believe in it, or some believe it is the only think making it through life. Love is something to be valued. In the novel, the World Reservation toys with emotions, while people in the Savage Reservation have full relationships, and marriage does exist. “The first thing they all want to know is what it’s like to make love to a savage. And I have to say I don’t know. Most of the men don’t believe me...He’s terribly good looking; don’t you think so?’ “But doesn’t he like you?” Asked Fanny (Huxley, 166). As Lenina starts to develop strong feelings for John, she often finds herself wondering of how he really feels. John will not fall through the cracks of peer pressure and sleep with Lenina, because he feels it is morally incorrect, although, he wants to. You then see the contrast between the two reservations beliefs on love and relationships. John, believes in love and marriage. Although, he reads Shakespeare, and whips Lenina towards the end of the story. Lenina, being rasied on the World State, does not know the meaning of a real relationship. She thrives off of sexual activities, and that is her ideal way of dating. However, in modern day society, this would have been classified as something different than normal, often degrading. “How much I love you, Lenina,” he brought out almost desperately...”Do you mean it John?” “But, I hadn’t meant to say so, Not until...Listen, Lenina; in Malpais people get married.” “Get what? What are horrible idea!” Lenina was geuinely shocked (Huxley, 191). This contrasts John’s ideas and beliefs on love, with, Lenina’s ideas and beliefs on what is supposed to be love. Love and relationships are a big part of life in today’s society as a whole. Therefore, our society today, is more like the Savage Reservation.

PART 4 Connection Section
The theme of Love and Relationships, was one of the most important themes. This deals with real life issues and can be compared and contrasted as well. The articles I have chosen all deal with
aspects of love. They also deal with some issues concerning relationships, such as; marriage,
pregnancy, STD’s, and sex. Each article has its own way of tying in little by little, what makes up a
love and relationship, even if it is negative ones. It also shows the factors of children as they go
through the stages of learning about these topics. I believe that teachers in school, teach these things
at a too way young age. By the ninth grade, more than one-third of adolescents have has sexual
intercourse; by grade 12, nearly two-third are sexually experienced. Sexually active adolescents
tend to have multiple partners (consecutively or concurrently) and to be inconsistant in their
practice of safer sex. The combination of these factors places adolescents at risk for unplanned
pregnancies and STD’s, including HIV (Rosengard, 1). Children are extremely susceptible to
falling for peer pressure. The peer pressure issues are being dragged on today as well. Peer pressure
is just a way to convince someone to do something, even if it is not in their own benefit. I believe
people should be able to stand up for themselves and prove to everyone that they are stronger than
that and will not fall through the cracks. For many, this would be the hardest thing that they would
be able to accomplish. The power to say no is a driving force. It has great attributes, and may also
be considered a confidence booster. Many children need confidence, it makes them feel important
and belonging.
We then move onto the radical feminists’ idea of modern romance and love. They believe that
women are the only ones who work hard to get to succeed in love. This, by far, is not true.
Although, not shown as much, men do work to find the girls of their dreams because inevitably that
makes them happy. Women worry too much about what men want then sitting to realize, what men
need to have successful relationships. Although, feminists’ do bring up good arguments about the
rights and wrongs that are bestowed in love and relationships. Relationships are also meant to have
ups and downs, because in turn, that is what makes them unique. Everyone wants some sort of love,
even if they are unwilling to admit it, love makes the world go ‘round, as cliche of a statement that
is. Without love, I feel that our existence would be merely dust. Everything would be plain and
ordinary. Love makes you feel good about yourself if you are in a well caring relationship. It is a
feeling that is as unbearable as anything you might ever find yourself to feel. Women have this
feature that makes them the caring individuals they are. They put themselves before anyone, and try
to make others happy before focusing on, themselves which, in the long run, becomes the most
important thing. Virtually, love is inevitable throughout somebody’s lifetime. It is meant to make
you happy, and to break your heart all at once.
People who experience love and relationships in different ways
Abstract
The topic of love and relationships is defining what it is like to love and the different relationships that may branch out of it. The sources I used were; Brave New World, the book, a Sexual Education article, A Women’s Comtemporary Database article, and an article on Adolescents and Their Partners. My conclusions were that love is basically inevitable and it is available to everyone, you just need to search harder for the answers if you have not found them yet.

PART 1 Article summary
This article, “Sex Education”, by Wilma Mankiller, speaks about sexual knowledge, beliefs, and attitudes. They include sciences like anatomy. It speaks of while you grow up, what is presented throughout your years of schooling. In 1992, Debra Haffner found that less that 10 percent of U.S. children “receive comprehensive sexuality education from kindergarten through adulthood.” Although, most students are exposed to some type of sexuality education before they complete high school, they usually study only biology, reproduction, and virology (Mankiller, 1). As you start school, you learn about abuse, which would be portrayed in elementary school. As you hit junior high, you learn about HIV/AIDS viruses. And, finally, when you enter high school, you learn about date rape. This sends a message that sex is dangerous. It should not be influenced or encouraged to engage in sexual activites, or have multiple partners. Many people promote abstinence, which is the power of saying no, and not having sex, staying sustained. It also speaks of contraceptives, such as birth control. This method is one thing that many teens are concerned about. “If girls could conceive of themselves as sexual subjects, they could potentially make decisions about their sexual behavior and experience that would be healthy for them(Mankiller, 2).”
Critique
In reading this article, I learned many things that I did not know about sexual behaviors and education. I feel this was a very well written article because of the way it was written and percieved to the eye. It is completely in depth and it gives a lot of information on my personal topic as a whole. I feel that the article did not leave anything out because the article many things such as polls. The article was very well written and well organized. It flows correctly do that you would not get sidetracked reading upon it. I also believe that the author of the article, had taken upon the side of being abstinent. They feel that kids should not be taught about sex in school. It makes their imagination rise and children fall into the traps of peer pressure and becoming adolescents. It was stated that many children would not engage in sexual activity and desires if they were not taught sexual education in school. There was plenty of information to get a complete understanding on that particular topic. I feel that if more information was given, I would not have a good understanding on the points given in the article as is.
Article
In this article, “Your love is, Your Love”, by the Contemporary Women’s Issues Database, speaks of radical feminists rights or wrongs to love and who is perfect to be with. “Feminist philosopher, Nancy Tuana, has pointed out that Othello’s “love”was strong, but it was heedless of the real identity and welfare of the women he “loved” (and killed)’ (Your love is, Your Love, 1) It speaks of how countless wrongs have been done in love and situations reguarding relationships. They say that perfect love is idealized. Also, it does not last long so that opens up the oppertunities to make it idealized. Love is portrayed to be a big game. You do not know what your outcome will be, or who you may spend the rest of your life with. Radical feminists shocked the world in the late 60's by saying that love is a trap for women (Your love is, Your Love, 2). They say a lot of wrongs about marriage too. They want the single people to go out and enjoy themselves. Take on oppertunities that life flies at you. You are supposed to make the best of the life you are living. A feminist once stated that men can not love. This a completely biased opinion. Men are capable of love just as well as women are. Many people can not live without having to love. If a women was in an abusive, sexual relationship, then it scars their mentality as well as, taking a major blow to their confidence that they should have once had. It goes on to state the different types of loves and relationships. This consists of friendships to parental guidance. If our lives were satisfying, we would not need anyone to be in relationships with. Women usually take care of everyone else besides themselves. They are always first to put themselves last. They like making other people happy first, it is like a fulfillment in its own.
Critique
This article was written from the point of view of a radical feminist. Although, they have extreme beliefs on love and celibacy. The article was well written and informative to my topic of choice. It had a lot of information on my topic of love and relationships. It also helped me better understand why people do the things they do for love. The organization of the article was a little lengthy at large, but fairly organized throughout the setup of ideas. The organization set up was stories told by people who were, and are in the situations of love currently. People understand love in many different ways and forms. The report was rather biased and took sides because the arguing person was a radical feminist. She took things from her point of view as a female. There was also a plethora of information stored inside the article. The stories seemed to be a little overdone. People believe that minor things that show no need to get worked up about, may cause the greatest heartbreak they may possibly experience in their lifetimes.

Agency's recall... WASHINGTON -- About 7,400 Pokemon plush toys -- more than a dozen different colorful characters in the form of dolls, beanbags and key chains -- are being recalled after tips of sewing needles were found in the stuffing.
New York City retailer Pokemon Center NY has received no injury reports, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said Friday. The toy's Japanese maker, TOMY Co., announced a recall earlier this week of 626,000 of the popular dolls after a needle was found inside a toy.
The U.S. recall covers the following production codes, found on a toy's label: A04, B04, C04, D04, E03, E04, F03, F04, G03, G04, H03, I03, J03, K03 and L03. The label also reads "TOMY."
The toys were sold at Pokemon Center NY and through the retailer's Web site from January to August for between $2 and $11.
The commission advises buyers to stop using the toys and contact TOMY Co. for a refund or replacement at (800) 691-8055. The recalled items can be viewed at www.cpsc.gov

August 5th, 2006
Dear Diary,
Today could quite possibly be held as one of the best days of my life. Although there were bumps between friendships and boys all throughout the day, I could not have asked for a better day. Today was Warped Tour 2006. This was my first experience at a Warped Tour, and I can honestly say I was nervous from the many stories I’ve heard about it. First, some background information, Warped Tour is a large venue composed of many bands playing on different stages. People come from all around the world just to see these bands. Spending countless hours outdoors sweating, and getting hurt. This is one of the days that many people who love music, wait for. We left our houses around 8 a.m, stopped at Wawa for lunch later on that day, and then we were off the Englishtown. I wasn’t ready for what was to come. I was going with Amanda, her mom, and this girl Beth, whom I wasn’t the best of friends with. Maybe it was because I never really had a conversation with her? But, she seemed nice at first. Little did I know she would be my best friend after today. Amanda and Beth had been feuding for a long time, and I didn’t know what to do as they were fighting all throughout the day. When we had gotten there, we ate our lunch, and then had to stand inline. Luckily, we knew some people up in the front of the line, and we got inline with them. People were shooting water everywhere because the lines were so compacted. The heat gets to you and you sweat to amazing amounts until you long for anything to help you cool off in the slightest. After staying inline for an hour, the gates were open. We handed in our tickets and they checked our bags. Then, we were off. Kids were running trying to get as close to the list of times and stages the bands played at. First we were off to see Bullet For My Valentine, I have recently just started to get into them. The guys that we hung out with while we were waiting, loved them, so we decided to stay and watch. This would be my wake-up call to disaster. First, the show was great, front row, couldn’t be better. Then the pits started to come, which was not the best thing. They push the people just sitting there watching, up so far, your rib cages are basically slamming into the steel guard rail. People crowd surf, everywhere, so you have to be alert. I had gotten kicked in the face because I wasn’t aware of the circumstances. Needless to say, the day continued like that, and I sprained my ankle, to where it put me in the so called “hospital” they had on grounds. My new found friend Beth, was there to help me walk around to still see my favorite bands. I don’t think my day could have been better. I had the time of my life, gained a best friend, and got an amazing tan. This was the greatest experience ever, and I cannot wait until next years, Warped Tour.

yaaaay my answers. lifes great. mmmm amaaazzing :D
11. In 1975, Jimmy Hoffa disappeared never to be found again. He was widely assumed to have been killed by the Mafia. His body was never found, and in 1983 he was declared legally dead. In September of 2001, news reports claimed that DNA tests by the FBI had tied Hoffa to a car driven by his associate Charles O'Brien the day Hoffa disappeared -- suggesting that charges might still be brought in the case.
12. While in Sacramento, California on September 5, 1975, Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme, a follower of Charles Manson, pointed a Colt 45-caliber handgun at Ford. As Fromme pulled the trigger, a Secret Service agent grabbed the gun and managed to insert the webbing of his thumb under the hammer, preventing the gun from firing. It was later found that, although the gun was loaded with four bullets, it was a semi-automatic pistol and the slide had not been pulled to place a bullet in the firing chamber, making it impossible for the gun to fire. Fromme was taken into custody; she was later convicted of attempted assassination of the President and was sentenced to life in prison.
13. Snow, because it contained an impurity, known as lead.
14. Back in 1979, when Congress was considering extending loan guarantees to bail out Chrysler Corporation, there were vigorous debates about the propriety of such a large-scale government intervention into the marketplace. The size of the loan guarantees - $1.5 billion - was unprecedented at the time. It wasn’t until the federal government stepped in to help the airline industry after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 that there was such a large-scale government bailout.
15. Love Canal is a neighborhood in Niagara Falls, New York, located at (43.08056, -78.95194). It officially covers 36 square blocks in the far southeastern corner of the city, along what is now known as 99th Street. Two bodies of water define the northern and southern boundaries of the neighborhood: Bergholtz Creek to the north and the Niagara River one-quarter mile (400 m) to the south. In 1920, Love's land was sold in public auction to the City of Niagara Falls, who began using the undeveloped area as a landfill for chemical waste disposal. The canal was at the time an ideal site for development as a chemical landfill; the ground was largely impermeable clay, and the surrounding area was sparsely populated, if populated at all. The city disposed of the waste from its thriving petrochemical industry into Love Canal, and later the United States Army allegedly began using the site as well, burying waste from its experiments in chemical warfare.

My stress level, is boiling over entirely too much. I'm 16, i don't need to deal with all of this on a daily basis. I don't know. I don't think it's so much fair as me to say, my life completely blows. but, i have too much to deal with.
My dad, had a hip replacement, a year ago. wow, that was scary. Just because my mom would sit there and tell me my dad was unhealthy constantly on a daily basis. I didn't know what to do. But, now i realize, yeah my dad is unhealthy. But, hes doing better, he hasn't gotten a kidney stone in a long time. But, now he complains about back pains, and he get really high fevers suddenly.
I think its weird how love works, and how people can go the distance for one and the other. I want to experience something like that, because, i don't think i've ever been in love. I may have thought i was, but yeah, i wasn't i just got caught up in my emotions, and i let everything get the best of me. Like, honestly, my dad, is 52, and he remarried my step mom, shes 35. And they started over and had a kid, nicole, my sister, and now they have another one on the way in October. Its insane how much they love each other, but i always feel like i have a lot on my sholders to carry out, being the big sister and all. Ugh, i don't know, maybe i'm talking ahead of myself, but i don't like having to tell my sister im at school when i have to go home to my moms, it breaks my heart. I miss her a lot sometimes. :[
But, i said being the big sister thing, i have an older brother, who i've always, always, looked up to, but unfortunately he hasn't been such a positive thing on my life. My brother is like my best friend, but he goes out, and gets high all the time, he lies, he steals, he cheats. I don't know what to do to make him grow up. But whenever hes in trouble, i'm always getting him out of it, then i look like the bad guy, because i apparently put him in it. I don't know. Thats enough of that.
Heres my fault, theres some people, that i have been friends with for quite some time, that i havent seen all summer. Its basically, like i haven't even made an effort. But, on the other hand, neither have they. But, ican't even pick up the phone to say, hey, how are you doing? Its scary. How much i've changed in the course of a month. Its sad, but maybe theres a reason for it.
Heres one major flaw i have. I worry way too much about what other people think about me. It's like i have to impress everyone. I know i never do, but why should i worry about it? I don't know, maybe its because of the thing i dealt with, with my step dad, i don't know. Maybe, its just, i want so bad to have someone care for me the way my friends in relationships are. I haven't had that feeling really, i'm so used to the typical, being used, or someone cheating on me ordeal. Its getting old. I'll have to do something about this. I mean why should i worry, i have people that have crushes on me, but why is it never good enough for me?
Hm. well, i am a pretty independent person, i mean i support myself, i'm paying for my insurance and half of my car, i get decent grades, and i want to make something out of my life. I want to go to college and i just have so many plans for my future, but im not sure i really want all of it. I have a job, i buy my own stuff, but sometimes i think it would be nice to have someone care for me. I have so many things and people to do and see when i get my liscense. Theres a select few that i can't wait to see. I just hope theres no disapointment to them, when i do see them. That would make me happy. Because, if all goes well, i can see them a lot. i like driving and i like meeting new people.
Iwantsomeone. ha yeah. and im ending this here. im drinking my apple juice. :]
